Turns out there is a learning curve to piping marshmallow, and coating a cookie entirely with chocolate is hard. My fans didn\u2019t care that Paul Hollywood wouldn\u2019t give me a handshake for these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/50964105673\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50964105673_95f5def124_n.jpg\" alt=\"Wagon wheel cookies\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then Purim was upon me and I had to make hamentaschen. Usually I stick to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epicurious.com\/recipes\/food\/views\/fruit-filled-hamantaschen-from-philadelphia-40013\">Joan Nathan prune filling<\/a>, because that is my favorite (I always double this recipe), but I got on a brown butter kick so I had to give these <a href=\"https:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/2016\/03\/apricot-hazelnut-brown-butter-hamantaschen\/\">Smitten Kitchen brown butter apricot hazelnut hamentaschen<\/a> a try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51001012523\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51001012523_e650f717ed_n.jpg\" alt=\"Apricot Hazelnut brown butter hamentaschen\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Turns out while these are delicious, prune still holds the top spot in my heart. I have a vegan roll out cookie dough recipe I modified years ago from the back of some packaging:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51001711101\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51001711101_68545c08b6_n.jpg\" alt=\"Prune hamentaschen\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I have been looking for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loveandlemons.com\/thumbprint-cookies\/\">thumbprint cookies<\/a> recipes forEVER and I finally found the perfect one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51001714016\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51001714016_7c8c999412_n.jpg\" alt=\"Apricot thumbprint cookie\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51004956732\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51004956732_698e0d52f4_n.jpg\" alt=\"Chocolate thumbprint\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After the thumbprints i was ready to dive back into the marshmallow sandwich cookie, this time a <a href=\"https:\/\/cooking.nytimes.com\/recipes\/1021713-malt-chocolate-and-marshmallow-sandwiches\">malt chocolate and marshmallow<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51053259323\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51053259323_68ce683afe_n.jpg\" alt=\"Malt chocolate and marshmallow sandwiches\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At some point I was thinking it would be fun to add cinnamon and a little cayenne for a Mexican hot chocolate twist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tea cakes started showing up. I had no control! They just busted in:<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cooking.nytimes.com\/recipes\/1021062-earl-grey-tea-cake-with-dark-chocolate-and-orange-zest\">Earl Grey tea cake with dark chocolate and orange zest<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/50997091580\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50997091580_2ba387ca3c_n.jpg\" alt=\"Earl grey tea cake with dark chocolate and orange zest\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Followed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/cooking.nytimes.com\/recipes\/1020637-lemony-turmeric-tea-cake<\/a\">lemony turmeric tea cake:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51080583591\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51080583591_0c1599857f_n.jpg\" alt=\"Lemony turmeric tea cake\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And then I had to make Ottolenghi\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cooking.nytimes.com\/recipes\/1018821-blueberry-almond-and-lemon-cake<\/a\">blueberry, almond and lemon cake, but with raspberries and lime:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51136615253\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51136615253_e26a30da52_n.jpg\" alt=\"Raspberry lime almond cake\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I took a little detour into savory, with this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriouseats.com\/homemade-spicy-chili-crisp\">chili crisp<\/a>. If Sohla could do it, so could I. I shared it with two friends, who had to go and make their own batches. It\u2019s pretty easy, just takes a bit of time (in my case it took about 3 hours total).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51139012443\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51139012443_34d2f33e17_n.jpg\" alt=\"Chili crisp\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A friend posted this <a href=\"https:\/\/brownedbutterblondie.com\/brownie-cookie-sandwiches-with-cookie-dough-buttercream\/\">brownie cookie sandwich with cookie dough buttercream<\/a> and I HAD to try them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51151323411\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51151323411_7bcb5c38c6_n.jpg\" alt=\"Brownie cookie sandwich with cookie dough buttercream\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another foray into <a href=\"https:\/\/food52.com\/recipes\/85502-vegan-macarons-recipe\">aquafaba macarons <\/a>with better results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/51169048648\/in\/album-72157718323481377\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/51169048648_8934ca4bc4_n.jpg\" alt=\"Aquafaba macarons\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And a <a href=\"https:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/2011\/09\/red-wine-chocolate-cake\/\">red wine chocolate cake<\/a>, with that buttercream frosting piped on top (and a layer of ganache hiding underneath).
