As many of you know, I&#8217;ve been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slowbloom.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/where-ive-been\/\">a lot of places<\/a>. Picking one was <strong>hard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to go with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/sets\/72157626303827539\/\">Luang Prabang<\/a> in Laos, because I&#8217;ve talked about visiting Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, but not Laos, which was the fourth country in my tour of SE Asia.<\/p>\n<p>I visited temples:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/5589239713\" title=\"Wat Xieng Thong by Jill S., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5067\/5589239713_2873ddab41.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Wat Xieng Thong\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>that had disco elephants as decoration &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/5589833160\" title=\"mosaic elephant by Jill S., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5185\/5589833160_fb05dc28b9.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"mosaic elephant\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I drank bale fruit tea:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/5589831962\" title=\"bale fruit tea by Jill S., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5308\/5589831962_f005959156.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"bale fruit tea\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and BeerLao, the champagne of beers (or so I was told).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/5589237909\" title=\"Beerlao by Jill S., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5180\/5589237909_1bf8eb0b99.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" alt=\"Beerlao\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I watched monks collect merit contributions:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/5589830682\" title=\"monks collecting merit contributions by Jill S., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5061\/5589830682_ffa973f115.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" alt=\"monks collecting merit contributions\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and the sun set behind the Mekong river.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jillbertini\/5589241263\" title=\"sunset behind the mekong by Jill S., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5105\/5589241263_0e56e6b414.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"sunset behind the mekong\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you ever have a chance to visit Luang Prabang, I highly recommend it.
