But I became more attuned to subtlety in the last year, which has felt deeply satisfying.<\/p>\n<p><b>Your happiest moment?<\/b><br \/>\nAs with the previous question, there weren&#8217;t really any giant spikes that stood out. It&#8217;s just been a good year. But one thing that I totally enjoyed this year was getting more into birding &#8211; first with the barred owls and then nearly tripping over the snowy owl in November!<\/p>\n<p><b>Your most exciting trip?<\/b><br \/>\nI only traveled 3 times this year &#8211; I would have to say the ski trip was definitely the most fun. Oh, I just remembered I went down to Portland for a couple of days to hang out with my little sister. That was pretty awesome, too.<\/p>\n<p><b>Your favourite meal?<\/b><br \/>\nProbably the dinner I had at <a title=\"D.O.C.\" href=\"http:\/\/docpdx.com\/\">D.O.C.<\/a> in Portland.<\/p>\n<p><b>The thing that made you laugh the hardest?<\/b><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/daves4\/the-25-funniest-autocorrects-of-2012\">25 funniest autocorrects<\/a> was pretty damn funny.<\/p>\n<p><b>What did you do that surprised you the most?<\/b><br \/>\nStarted another novel.<\/p>\n<p><b>What happened that you&#8217;d have never anticipated this time last year?<\/b><br \/>\nMarriage equality passed AT THE BALLOT BOX in three states and a homophobic law was voted down. And Anderson Cooper finally came out of the closet.<\/p>\n<p><b>Your favourite book \/ film \/ poem \/ music \/ museum (could be for totally spurious reasons that have nothing to do with the book \/ film \/ music in question)?<\/b><br \/>\nBook: I had more than one.
